VISIT LYME REGIS for ALL SEASONS

Where Dorset meets Devon and the rolling countryside tumbles to the sea nestles the fascinating town of Lyme Regis.

Since the 18th century visitors have sought the tranquility of Lyme’s shores as a welcome haven for refreshment and recreation. Despite the numbers of visitors who return here year after year, the determination to preserve the town’s heritage has protected it against the creeping commercialisation which so often besets seaside resorts today.

Enjoy it’s dramatic location, congenial climate, timeless charm and the hospitality of it’s townsfolk. From the crest of Timber Hill a magnificent, panoramic view of the bay lies before you with the blue sea above the ragged rooftops of the town, embracing and beckoning. The delightful maze of steep, narrow streets with their interesting architecture, shops, galleries, pubs and cafes just begs to be explored. There are sheltered south facing beaches, safe for bathing, and the sunny sandbar overlooking the harbour and traffic free promenade create an environment where children can play safely.

Whether you come to Lyme for it’s history, its geology or just to relax on the beaches and soak up the sun, there’s something here for everyone. The atmosphere of this unique and favoured town is certain, that once experienced, it will soon weave its spell and you’ll be coming back for more!

Lyme Regis is twinned with St George’s Bermuda

Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter...

With its reputation for good weather, more and more visitors are discovering Lyme Regis as a an ideal spot for an out of season break. Some choose to exchange the stress of Christmas at home for the peace and relaxation of Yuletide traditions by the sea - and let someone else take the strain!

Others have discovered that Spring comes early to this sheltered corner of the West Country and so take advantage of the sea air and countryside before the rest of the world awakens.

And Autumn - that "Season of mists and mellow fruitfulness ..."In Lyme Regis you may well be persuaded that "... warm days will never cease ..." (John Keats).
